Developed specifically for a gold medal winning display at the 2012 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, Surge attempts to describe a moment of great speed and energy. Anchored firmly to its past, the sculpture projects itself outward and upward with blind purpose. This rapid and energetic force drives the once stable fabric of tessellating hexagons into a warped and inflating hive structure that parallels the accelerated, diverging expansion of our own human colony.
