Award for 'Crash'.

I am thrilled to announce that my sculpture 'Crash' has just been awarded first prize for emerging artists in the Association of Sculptors of Victoria annual sculpture prize.

The work is still for sale. Enquiries can be made through contact@damianvick.com.

More Competitions

It's been a crazy month with more sculptures accepted into competitions and exhibitions:

'Crash', which was first exhibited as part of the Toorak Village Sculpture Competition, is currently on display the Light Factory in Eltham until 18th September. 21 Brougham Rd. Eltham. Free Entry.

I also have a brand new work 'Luna 3' (A large sculpture of the moon and by far my most involved work to date) will be exhibited from the 15th September until the 12th October as part of a sculpture competition at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. 357 Monbulk Rd, Silvan. Entry to the festival is $18.

Debut exhibition and competition

After years of making sculptures, installations and miscellaneous creations on a commission basis I have finally branched out and launched deeper into my love of sculpture and personal artwork.

I have had two pieces accepted into the sculpture competition in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden show, which is operating at the Royal Exhibition building and Carlton Gardens from Wednesday 30th March - Sunday 3rd April. More information about the show at www.melbflowershow.com.au

But that's not all...

The only constant...

... is change, and change has been a welcome and constant presence for me over the last few months.

Outgrowing my previous shell I have moved my workshop from its old location in Northcote out to a new site in West Footscray where I am surrounded by other artists and am free to spread my wings, without any noise restrictions or other complications that come from having a workshop in a residential street.

Thanks go to family and friends who helped make the transition smooth and painless (albeit, dusty, sweaty and heavy).

An arbitrary point in the Earth's rotation

Welcome everyone to 2011.

This is the first blog entry since the re-emergence of my website, and I hope it is the drop that precedes the waterfall as a quiet momentum begins to make its presence felt.

This year looks bright and chaotic with growth appearing everywhere as some exciting projects come to fruition, while seeds of others are beginning to germinate. Either way there is lots to do and lots to dream about.

Welcome to damianvick.com

Hello and welcome to the new and improved damianvick.com.

The last year has been an exciting and rewarding one with an array of varied projects crossing my workshop floor. For those who have been here before you may have noticed that this stream of work and art was not always reflected in the website which has remained essentially unchanged… until now. With greater powers to update and display my projects I will ensure that I am continually adding to the gallery to showcase the spectrum of solutions generated for my clients and the artwork I create for myself.
